ECHO is a mesmerizing spectacle filled with vibrant characters who capture the imagination, visuals that light up your eyes and acrobatics that make the heart race.
EXPERIENCE A STORY THAT CONNECTS US ALL
Driven by the power of change, the hope of the youth and the value of empathy, ECHO follows an inquisitive young woman named Future and her playful dog, Ewai, as they wander into a fantasy world that explores our bond with animals and the natural world.
When the curious duo happens upon a mysterious CUBE, they quickly learn how their actions have the power to shape tomorrow, and how, if we come together, we can rebuild our planet to create the world we all want to live in.
A SPECIAL TERRACE FOR TREATS AND FAMILY TIME
To make the experience more comfortable (and manageable for parents), ECHO is introducing a special terrace outside the Big Top that you can access before the show and during intermission.
With plenty of seating, umbrellas for shade and games to keep your little ones engaged, this inviting space is the perfect place to gather, regroup and fill up on treats like popcorn, hotdogs, nachos with cheese and salsa, chocolates, candies, soft drinks and a selection of beer and wine for adults.
THE ACROBATIC EVENING YOUR FAMILY WILL BE RAVING ABOUT
In any performance by Cirque du Soleil, gravity is merely a suggestion. ECHO carries that tradition forward with a fresh wave of dizzying acrobatic performances like bungee straps, icarian games (where a porter is lying on his back, tossing and juggling a flyer with his feet!), double hair suspension and a triumphant Washington trapeze act.
From the opening “acro-dance” of the animals, where dozens of species come together in harmony, dancing along the walls in vertical choreography, to the heart-pounding double slackwire act, where two brave performers step across a hanging slackwire while fire blazes below, there is no shortage of “Wow!” moments to leave your family breathless.
Another exhilarating first for Cirque du Soleil is the triple teeterboard performance, where you’ll see an ensemble of twelve talented artists (all dressed as birds) leaping from one board to the next, meeting in mid-air and creating a popcorn effect that sends your gaze skyward and drops your jaw to the floor.
WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THE GIANT CUBE?
From the moment you walk into the theater, you can’t help but notice the CUBE, a simple yet profound set piece that’s roughly the size of a two-story apartment.
Outfitted with a spectacular range of audio, visual and tactile media, the CUBE sets the stage for a dynamic array of acrobatics and theatrics. At different points, it may be dismantled, stripped and rebuilt, scaled by animals, swung from by artists and used as a mesmerizing projection surface, but you might be wondering: what exactly does it mean?
“It’s not just as literal as ‘this is the world’,” says ECHO’s Author-Director Mukhtar Omar Sharif Mukhtar. “It could be anything: a relationship, love, something you cherish … It could represent the world, or the planet, but it’s really a symbol. The more we take away from it, the emptier it becomes, and the more we put into it, the fuller it becomes.”
