The Washington Nationals have partnered with library systems in the DMV region to help bring summer reading to as many people as possible. Children ages 6-18 who complete their local library’s summer reading program will have the opportunity to win tickets to a future Nationals game.
DCLibrary.org – Summer Challenge for the entire family. Read at least 20 minutes a day and record progress on a paper gameboard. Books, magazines and blogs count as reading material. Submit completed gameboards via email for chances to win prizes. (June 1 – August 31)
MontgomeryCountymd.gov/library/programs/summer-read-and-learn.html – Summer Read and Learn for children ages 0 – 17. Complete activities on a paper gameboard or read books. Earn online badges, champion bags of prizes and raffle entries. (June 15 – August 31)
Research.fairfaxcounty.gov/summer-reading/kids – Summer Reading Adventure for children ages birth through high school. Complete challenges on a paper gameboard or read or listen to a book. Enter drawings to win Amazon gift cards. (June 12 – August 14)
Scholastic.com – Scholastic Summer Read-A-Palooza for kids. Record reading streaks (reading done in consecutive days) and compete in online games. Every time a child participates, Scholastic will donate books to children in need. (May 4 – September 7)
BarnesandNoble.com – Summer Reading Journal for kids in grades 1 – 6. Read any eight books, write down favorite parts of book on a paper journal sheet, submit to the store and pick out a free book from a list! (July 1 – August 31)
BooksAMillion.com – Summer Reading adventure for kids. Read any four books from the summer reading adventure section, write down some details about the book on a paper log, submit to the store and get a free Dog Man logo baseball cap! (While supplies last.)
DOGOBooks.com – Summer Reading Adventure for kids in grades 3 – 10. Read books, write reviews and compete to win prizes! (April 29 – August 18)
