Mary McLeod Bethune Council House
Description
The Mary McLeod Bethune Council House served as the inaugural headquarters of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and was Bethune's final residence in Washington, DC. From this location, Bethune and the NCNW led initiatives and created programs that advanced the interests of African American women.
