Family Friendly Easter Events in Washington, D.C.

Easter is just around the corner and we’ve got a list of fun Family Friendly Easter Events in the Washington, D.C. and metro area that are egg-stra special! While there will be some slight modifications for everyone’s safety, our favorite outdoor Easter events are going forward as well as tons of indoor options for those playing it safe this year.

We don’t know about you, but just the thought of Easter puts a little spring in our step!


Easter Egg Hunt

12 – 3 p.m /Ages 1 – 6.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place this year in a modified format. Participants can hop along the bunny trail to the hunt area. Each child will hunt for empty Easter eggs and receive a treat bag at the conclusion of the hunt. The Easter Bunny will also be on-site for socially distanced pictures. All participants may enter the hunt area at their scheduled time. Masks are required in the event area for attendees five years and older. You must register in advance; there will be no day-of registration. Pre-registration ends Friday, March 26th. Town of Leesburg Parks and Recreation, Leesburg, VA.



Bunny Bonanza & Barnyard Babies

10am – 2pm / Under 2yrs go free

Come have fun at Bunny Bonanza and Barnyard Babies. Visit with live bunnies and other baby animals. Enjoy a variety of children’s activities. Pre-registration and pre-payment required. Social distancing and mask rules apply. Heritage Farm Museum, Sterling, VA.


Easter Cookie Decorating Baskets To-Go

12 – 1 p.m.

Take home your own Easter fun from the Fairmont, and be entered to win prizes for the most creative Easter outfit or mask, while giving back to our community. Executive Pastry Chef A.J. Thalakkat has been working hard to create scrumptiously magical Easter events and fun for all ages. Fairmont, Washington D.C.

Naturally: Egg Dyeing

1 – 2:30 p.m /Ages 6-12.

In seasonal celebration, come to our park to learn how to dye eggs naturally! Bring your own eggs to dye! Patuxent River Park, Upper Marlboro, MD.


The Hoppening

11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m / Ages 10 & below.

Join us for a socially distanced Easter Egg Hunt! Your kids will have fun outside in our courtyard and grassy area while they find as many Easter eggs as they can! Each ticket includes a basket, a visit from the Easter Bunny, & much more! Limited space is available. Every kid will have the chance to meet the Easter Bunny as well as have some fun with our hula-hoop dancer! Historic Savage Mill, Savage, MD.

Easter ExTRAVAGANZA & Pop Up Shop

12 – 5 p.m.

Easter 2021 is around the corner and we’re celebrating with fun Easter events in the sun and highlighting local business owners. PlannedbyPreddieEvents presents: Easter ExTRAVAGANZA & Pop Up Shop! A Covid family friendly event. Come out and enjoy Easter activities, games, raffles, prizes, shopping with our local vendors, and a live dj. Easter Day Organ Recital

2 p.m.

Happy Easter! Cathedral organists Thomas Sheehan and George Fergus celebrate the holiday with a selection of uplifting music on the Cathedral’s Great Organ. Join the organists after the recital for a discussion of the music and the amazing instrument! This concert includes the works of Lynn Trapp, Buxtehude, Simon Preston, John West, Florence Price, Denis Bédard and Marcel Dupré. Registrants will be sent a link to view the concert on April 4. March 26 – April 3: Easter Egg Hunt

10am – 3pm.

After a long cold winter, nothing chases away the chill like a visit to the farm! Your family won’t want to miss the first “crop” of the spring– Marshmallow Picking!! Do marshmallow peeps really grow on trees? Your children will be amazed to harvest a few marshmallows to roast on the bonfire. The Easter Bunny also hid some eggs filled with treats to enchant the children, and we need you to help us find them! There will be multiple egg hunts with timed ticket entrance. Come see our spring chicks and baby animals, take a wagon ride, and rejoice that it is spring! Great Country Farms, Bluemont, VA.

March 27 & April 3: Easter Egg Hunt

11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, & 3:00 PM.

Find Easter eggs hidden in the Lee-Fendall garden on this socially-distant take on our popular annual egg hunt! We will be adhering to all recommended health guidelines. Attendance will be limited to enforce social distancing so reservations must be made in advance. Face masks are required. Bring your own basket. Lee Fendall House, Alexandria, VA.

April 1-4: Occoquan Peep Week

The peeps are back during this year’s Occoquan Peep Week! We’re excited to announce the popular annual Peeps event is back with over a week’s worth of fun. Town of Occoquan and Occoquan Merchants Guild, Occoquan, VA.

April 1-3: Easter at Home Virtual Activity Kit

Virtual Postcard to the Easter Bunny: Children are invited to write a postcard to the Easter Bunny and the shopping center will deliver it for them electronically. Then, the Easter Bunny will write back, sharing egg-stra special wishes for a wonderful Easter Day. Bunnify Yourself: Families will enjoy hopping on the shopping center’s Instagram page from their mobile device and “bunnifying” themselves using one of three special Easter photo filters, then posting their story to their own Instagram feed and tagging the center at @dullestowncenter so family and friends can try it too. Other Easter events include the Easter Coloring & Activity Sheet: Kids can download free coloring and activity sheets online. Dulles Town Center, Dulles, VA.
