TJ Monahan, AIA is both an alumni and former teacher of architecture at Catholic University of America and has been working in the industry as an architect/remodeler since 2001. In 2014, he started a blog called Designed Happy to educate homeowners on the overall design/build process; it later turned into a book. In 2023, Monahan opened his own full-service residential architecture, design and decor firm, Designed Happy, based in Kensington, Md. He recently offered his first after-school class for aspiring architects in grades 3-7, called Studio DH.
