She Deserves It: Take Mom to a B&B Around the DMV

Being a mom is the most wonderful job in the world. But you know what else is wonderful? Getting away from those kids for a night or two.

So this Mother’s Day, treat your partner (or treat yourself!) to a B&B getaway. You don’t have to travel too far.

Swann House (1808 New Hampshire Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20009)

With a rich history dating back to 1883, Swann House oozes charm and 19th century craftsmanship. And yet, it has all the contemporary comforts. Christine and Matt Traylor, local parents of two young children, purchased the Dupont Circle property in February 2025 and bring a fresh energy to the historic home. Among its many offerings (including a spa, outdoor pool, afternoon wine and hors d’oeuvres and live jazz performances) Wellspring Manor is home to a dynamic fine arts collection. It houses over 2,000 square feet of exhibition space dedicated to the work of over 40 artists of color from around the world. The manor’s daily multicourse breakfasts are freshly prepared and include traditional, organic, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. What’s more, Wellspring Manor takes care to support local businesses and sources from local suppliers when possible.

The Inn Berlin Bed & Breakfast (15 Harrison Ave., Berlin, Md. 21811)

For moms with gluten restrictions, look no further than The Inn Berlin, a grand Victorian estate in historic downtown Berlin. The B&B is fully safe for celiacs but also provides a delightful (and delicious) experience for anyone looking for a getaway.
