The 2021 National Cherry Blossom Festival invites your family to step into spring in a whole new way. Mark your calendars for March 20-April 11 and join in the excitement of innovative and engaging hybrid events and outreach programs. Plan to participate in this yearโs Festival to celebrate springtime through these and other fun, family-friendly programs and activities.
Blossom Kite Fly
Blossom Kite Fly, presented by Otsuka Pharmaceutical, will be a free experience to be enjoyed by the whole family. Build an awesome kite to fly in your backyard or neighborhood park anytime on March 27 or March 28. Register for Blossom Kite Fly today! Then, get ready by participating in fun virtual kite-making workshops and watching world-class online demonstrations to perfect your kite-flying skills
Blossom Kids
Blossom Kids, presented by Chase, is an artistically interactive online experience filled with entertaining videos and activities to help kids explore the history of the Festival, learn more about the Nationโs Capital and more. The site is broken down into such categories as Arts & Crafts, Sports & Fitness, Music & Performance, Word & Language and The Gift of Trees.
Student Art Showcase
The Student Art Showcase, presented by Chase, will present an online gallery of artwork created by D.C. public and charter school students. After the Virtual Gallery Opening on March 30, youโll be able to view all of the special artwork submissions and even read comments from D.C. arts leaders and Patrick Guyton, the 2021 official artist. Youโll also be able to see highlights of the artwork on the jumbo screens at Gallery Place, as well as Navy Yard.
Petal Porch Parade
Petal Porch Parade, presented by Amazon, is bringing the National Cherry Blossom Festival spirit to neighborhoods across the region starting March 20. Invite your neighbors to a friendly DIY design challenge. Neighborhoods with the most whimsy and creatively blooming decorations could be chosen for the Petal Procession, which will cruise streets in fabulous, โfloweryโ blossom art cars, generously provided by Toyota, on April 10 and April 11.
