Fort Dupont Park

One of Washington, D.C.’s largest parks, this 361-acre wooded site was once home to an earthen fort built to protect Washington, D.C. during the Civil War. Today, visitors can see the fort's earthworks and escape to the great outdoors. Activities include picnics, nature walks, biking, gardening, environmental education, music and ranger-led programs. There is also a park-unique Junior Ranger program for children to explore and learn about the park.
