Thursday, September 12th, 4-5 p.m. Join this delightful retelling by Carmen Agra Deedy that will bring to life the characters of Martina, Abuela, Don Gallo, Don Cerdo, Don Largarto and Perez. After, make a project inspired by the story! This West End Neighborhood Library event is intended for children 5-8.
Saturday, September 14th, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Make your own book inspired by Latin American cartoneras and meet staff from the Library of Congressโ Hispanic Division. Also get connections to Library of Congress collections, a chance to talk to staff experts and a guide to using Library resources at home. This event will take place at the Thomas Jefferson Building Great Hall.
September 27th & 28th, 7 p.m.-3 a.m. Back for all the older kids who are allowed to stay up. The festival will take place in all eight wards with different activations on each night, bringing an immense variety of visual and performing arts to indoor and outdoor public and private spaces, including local businesses and restaurants. This is a chance to find your local Hispanic and Latino communityโs artistic contributions to our history and culture!
Saturday, September 28th, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Join the Hispanic Heritage Month fiesta in the Kogod Courtyard at the National Portrait Gallery! Back by popular demand, Lilโ Libros are returning for another celebration for all ages. Learn about Latinx trailblazers with vibrant portraits and the Lilโ Libros book series The Life of/La Vida de during this day of art, dancing, museum tours, story times, book signings and more.
September 28th & 29th, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. An annual celebration highlighting the Latino culture throughout the D.C. Metro area. As Latinos become the fastest growing group in D.C., the festival grows with them as a lively and vibrant festival commemorating their cultural heritage and embracing the spirit of unity and diversity. Fiesta D.C. will take place surrounding Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th NW & 3rd St.

Friday, September 13th, 5:30-7 p.m. Make culturally inspired crafts, enjoy open play and dance to some favorite bilingual songs. End the night with a lovely story before you go home and tuck in for sweet dreams! Admission is per family and includes a large cheese pizza and juice, so dinner is taken care of too. Saturday, September 14, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Join College Park Aviation Museum for an unforgettable free festival featuring Latina pioneers in aviation and a cultural celebration! Enjoy demos and childrenโs activities, food, community art, bilingual story time, author meet and greets and giveaways while supplies last. Cap off the afternoon with a 3 p.m. concert performance.

Saturday, September 28th, 4-4:45 p.m. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Wheaton Library. Amor y Luz will share Latin American folk songs with you and your children. Tickets will be handed out, first-come first-served, at the information desk 15 minutes before the program.
Tuesday, October 1st, 6-7 p.m. At Fairmount Heights Library, come and have fun with author Isha M. Renta as she introduces kids to the exciting world of bomba music! Isha will show how the bomba drum works and share its special story. Kids will also enjoy a reading of Sofia and Her Bomba Drum, making it a perfect mix of music, stories and fun for children ages 4-8. Presented by the Prince Georgeโs County Latino Advisory Board.

Fairfax County Library offers a month of family-friendly celebrations like Mucha Mรบsica! โ A Musical Journey Through Latin America with Cantarรฉ, story times, yarn doll craft (worry dolls, also named trouble dolls or muรฑecas quitapenas), Paint Like Frida for ages 12-18, making papel picado tissue paper designs, a showing of the movie Coco, creating Mexican paper flower crowns, mariachi and more!
