At Capital One Arena Sept. 11-15, OVO brings an ecosystem of creative insects to life
The high-flying acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil are always a kid-pleaser, but the latest touring show to make a stop in the nation’s capital (Sept. 11-15) is sure to be a favorite with the littlest audience members thanks to its focus on … bugs!
From mighty crickets bouncing off trampolines to a hypnotic spider contorting inside her web, OVO brings the audience into the colorful, biodiverse world of friendly bugs that make up their own miniature microcosm.
Fall in Love with OVO
The show begins when a magnificent ladybug captures the eye of an awkward, unusual insect who has just moved into this lively neighborhood, and the two instantly fall in love. The pair discover a new world together as various bugs take the stage to perform acrobatic feats in Cirque du Soleil’s signature style. Families will delight in jaw-dropping acts including Brave Butterflies gliding above the stage, a Flexible Dragonfly performing daring feats; and Crazy Crickets bouncing off the walls. Kids will also particularly enjoy “Creatura,” a caterpillar-inspired insect who does silly dances on stage.
A Message of Ecosystem Importance
While kids will love to delve into a reimagined world of the bugs they love to explore in their own backyard, adults will experience the show on a deeper level as its aerial feats illustrate an important message that the microscopic insect world plays a critical role in our fragile ecosystem. An aerial silks performer puts the beauty of the transformation from cocoon to butterfly on display, while another dazzling aerialist representing our ecosystem showcases the beauty of nature.
Find Brand New Bugs
OVO’s bug bonanza isn’t new, but the 2024 iteration has added three new insects with three new acts, including acrobatic ants on the Chinese poles; a pair of flying fleas on the duo trapeze; and the always awe-inspiring hair suspension act, this time featuring a delicate Lace Bug. If your family is a fan of the show, OVO’s return to DC can’t be missed. With new acrobatic acts redefining the limits of the human body, OVO will leave adults and kids alike impressed and inspired!
