Oohh's & Aahh's

Looking to satisfy that Soul Food itch? Walk on over to Oohh's & Aahh's on U Street or Georgia Avenue where they serve the best Mac and Cheese in all of D.C. They were recently featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" in addition to consistently being awarded best "Cheap Eats" by Washingtonian magazine. Busboys and Poets

With seven locations throughout the D.C. Metro area, Busboys and Poets was founded in 2005 by artist, activist and restaurateur Andy Shallal. The name is an homage to the great Langston Hughes, who worked as a busboy before gaining recognition as a poet. Busboys and Poets is a place for artists and free- thinkers in the community to share and discuss art, culture and politics. Oh, and they have a delightful Lem- Pom (Lemonade and Pomegranate), too! The Pretzel Bakery

For founder and owner Sean Haney, The Pretzel Bakery isn't just about serving high-quality, tasty pretzels - it's about remembering and paying respect to his childhood. Here, you can find the very best in childhood nostalgia: warm pretzels with a plethora of dips and, of course, delicious lemonade. We recommend picking up a salted (original) pretzel and a cold glass of Basil Lemonade (it's kind of a big deal). For more information, visit
