Save the Dates for Summer Fun!

Plan your 2018 summer at Washington Parent's Camp & Summer Fun Expos. The Montgomery County Camp & Summer Fun Expo will take place Sunday, January 28 at the Hilton Hotel & Executive Meeting Center (1750 Rockville Pike). The Northern Virginia Camp & Summer Fun Expo will take place Saturday and Sunday, February 24–25 at the Dulles Town Center Mall in Dulles, VA. Enjoy free activities, demonstrations, giveaways and prizes. Meet with summer program representatives, day camp and overnight camp directors and associates from summer fun destinations.

Adventure Camps

Specialties include adventure, tennis, golf, soccer, field games, arts and crafts and swim lessons in day camps. Lunch and free swim are included in all camps. High staff to camper ratios. Transportation and before and after care available. They host special needs camps and programs year round, and their staff is comprised of highly certified and trained professionals.

Once Upon a Time

The Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum invites adults and young children (ages 2–3) to discover the world around them together at weekly Story Time. Children will build important developmental and social skills through books, activities, songs and self-guided gallery exploration. Investigate themes, such as shapes, colors and sizes, in a relaxed setting at your neighborhood museum. Feel free to bring snacks and enjoy the space after the program! Story Time is FREE and takes place in the Byrne Education Loft on Mondays (except on Federal Holidays) at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Winter Fun Gliding and Twirling on Ice

Have fun in the heart of Reston Town Center ice skating in the open-air pavilion. Open daily through March 11. Skate times: Sunday–Tuesday 11 a.m.–7 p.m.; Wednesday–Thursday 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; Friday–Saturday 11 a.m.–11 p.m. $10 per adult; $9 Youth (under 12)/Senior (55+)/Military; $6 per skate rental.

“The Big Meow” at Theatre on the Run in Arlington

January 13 at 3 p.m. “The Big Meow,” adapted from the book by Elizabeth Spires, is the story of an ever-hopeful fluff-ball who desperately wants to belong to the band of neighborhood cats. A story of hope, disappointment, courage and the need for belonging, these simple themes are part of every neighborhood, but in this wonderful tale told through the experiences of Little Cat, a potential weakness is a unique strength. Tickets: $10 children/$15 adult.
